Kindle 2 is the Latest Generation of Amazon's New Wireless Reading Devices as of today, released few weeks ago and it inherits all the features of Kindle 1.
It is a portable electronic device that could store 1600 book and reading material. it automates subscriptions and facilitate quick easy downloads from wireless internet using Whispernet Fast G3 Networks in USA.

In short Kindle is an e-book reader. That's it!


Yes, but it can access Amazon.com and the Web to search google and Wikipedia. It can surf the Web. It comes with a Web browser called Basic Web, which supports cookies, JavaScript and SSL, but doesn’t support plug-ins like Adope reader or Flash or Shockwave or Java applets. You can type in a URL, click on links and surf the web just like a PC.

All this via it’s free wireless connection, since Kindle connects free to Whispernet Fast G3 Networks. If Whispernet isn’t available, Kindle connects using a second protocol called 1xRTT, which is an older and has slow connection standards. As this increases the number of locations where you have wireless access in USA, it cannot connect outside USA!

When you are outside USA, you can use your PC and sync to the Kindle using USB port. In any connection you can download and read any of the quarter million books from Amazon.com. Also, you can subscribe to newspapers and magazines.

Kindle has both speakers and a headphone jack. It reads books loud and acts as MP3 player. You can buy audiobooks directly from Audible.com. This feature lets you listen to music while reading, but only in “shuffle” mode.

Kindle has a built in dictionary: The New Oxford American Dictionary. You can buy another one from Amzon.com if you prefer another.
